Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at amy@spiritjourneyhealing.us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

No, you don't have to be flexible to do yoga! It doesn't matter if your forward fold reaches your thighs or your feet, it's still yoga! Yoga is a practice that meets you where you are, regardless of your current level of flexibility.

It's designed to help improve your flexibility, strength, and balance over time. Many yoga poses can be modified to suit your individual needs, and props like blocks, extenders, and bolsters can assist you in achieving the poses comfortably. Yoga focuses on connecting breath with movement, reducing stress, and promoting overall well-being, making it accessible to everyone, regardless of their physical condition.

Yes, you can do yoga if you have injuries, but it's important to approach it with caution and the right guidance. Here are some tips to help you practice yoga safely with injuries:

  1. Consult Your Doctor: Before starting any yoga practice, it's essential to consult with your healthcare provider to ensure it's safe for your specific injury.
  2. Find a Qualified Instructor: Look for a yoga instructor experienced in working with injuries. They can help modify poses and create a practice that supports your healing process.
  3. Communicate Your Injury: Inform your instructor about your injury so they can provide appropriate modifications and avoid poses that might exacerbate your condition.
  4. Focus on Gentle Practices: Consider gentle yoga styles such as Restorative Yoga, Yin Yoga, or Hatha Yoga, which are generally slower and less strenuous.
  5. Use Props: Utilize yoga props like blocks, extenders, and bolsters to support your body and make poses more accessible.
  6. Listen to Your Body: Pay close attention to how your body feels during practice. Avoid any poses that cause pain or discomfort, and don't push yourself beyond your limits.
  7. Incorporate Rest: Allow your body ample time to rest and recover. Yoga is not about pushing through pain but finding balance and healing.

Yoga can be a beneficial part of your recovery process, helping to improve mobility, reduce stress, and promote overall well-being when practiced mindfully and safely.

While some of the modalities can involve touch, I will always make sure you are aware well in advance, ask permission to touch before we begin, as well as check in throughout the session.

You ALWAYS have the option to opt out of that particular practice. I am trained in trauma sensitive yoga and will always hold space for you and your comfort level.

I will never share with anyone what we talk about in a session.  You can have 100% confidence that what we discuss stays strictly confidential, unless you specifically direct otherwise.  Our sessions will always be a safe place for you to process and heal.

Rituals can be found in various contexts, including religious, cultural, social, and personal practices, and they are not inherently linked to witchcraft. Here is a breakdown of different types of rituals and their purposes:

  1. Religious Rituals: These are practices carried out within the context of a religion, such as prayer, worship services, sacraments, and festivals. Examples include Christian baptisms, Jewish Passover seders, and Muslim daily prayers.
  2. Cultural Rituals: These are traditions and practices that are specific to a particular culture or community. Examples include New Year's celebrations, weddings, funerals, and coming-of-age ceremonies.
  3. Social Rituals: These are practices that help structure social interactions and relationships. Examples include greetings, handshakes, and formal ceremonies like graduations.
  4. Personal Rituals: These are individual practices that people perform to mark significant moments or create a sense of routine and meaning in their lives. Examples include morning routines, meditation, rituals to release something holding us back or to call in something beneficial to our lives and journaling just to name a few.  These rituals can involve invocations, and ceremonies intended to connect with nature, deities, or spiritual forces.

While witchcraft rituals are a subset of rituals, not all rituals are related to witchcraft. Rituals are diverse and widespread, serving various purposes depending on their context. If you encounter a ritual, understanding its background, purpose, and the beliefs of those who practice it can help you determine its nature and whether it aligns with your values and beliefs.

I do use candles, herbs, crystals and altars, while expressing my intention to connect with the natural world around us and its centuries of healing powers, NOT to connect to or use these items for ill intent.

I have never and will never connect with or call in anything with ill intention or that would harm either my clients or myself.

I will never do, use or say anything that invokes anything less than that which will protect and serve my clients (and myself) with the most protection and highest good.  You will hear me ask that God, Universe, Spirit, Ancestors, Angels and Helping Spirits of the HIGHEST GOOD help connect our intentions to the outcome and that anything else is unwelcome.

Any use of items, herbs, crystals, invocations, energy and meditations will only have the intention of harmony with nature and self, to promote healing, insight, physical and spiritual wellbeing, and achievement of specific goals.
